Jerome "Jerry" Michael Geist, age 68, passed away on February 11, 2022 after complications from a stroke. He was born in Cleveland and lived his whole life in Northeast Ohio, but loved to travel. He graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School (Parma, Ohio) in 1971 and Cleveland State University - Fenn College of Engineering in 1976. He worked for ALLTEL and Verizon Wireless as a Network Manager for 32 years before retiring. He enjoyed retirement and spent his time between family and learning / researching. During the week, you could find him snuggled on the couch between his dogs watching any number of historical, true crime, or science fiction television shows or conducting genealogical research on the family. His wife and he would travel to the different Ohio state parks to enjoy the outdoors and relax in the sun. He enjoyed watching football - Go Browns and Roll Tide - and debating politics and current events with his son and daughter, and he loved to watch his three grandsons play hockey. In addition to spending time with family, he enjoyed partaking in the Senior Guest Program at Kent State University, where he took a number of classes in history and mathematics. Finally, he enjoyed conducting genealogical research. As a board member of the Summit County of Ohio Genealogical Society, he enjoyed looking at various branches of his family and helping others learn the tools to research their families. He was always looking to learn and develop new skills.
He is preceded in death by his mother Rita Stranko, his father, Walter Geist, and his sister, Loretta Armstrong. He is survived by his wife of 28 years and love of his life Linda Geist (Gallagher), his son Michael Geist (Elizabeth), his daughter Meghan Geist, his three grandsons Alexander, Anthony, and Jacob Geist, and their beloved dogs Betsy and Glory.
