Jean Marie Goodall (nee Kempel), age 85, of Copley, Ohio, passed away on August 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Lakewood, Ohio, on August 25, 1939, Jean was a proud graduate of the St. Elizabeth Hospital Nursing Program, Class of 1960. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at St. John's Hospital in Cleveland and later retired from Medina General Hospital. Throughout her decades of service, Jean cared for others with skill, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Nursing was not just her profession-it was her calling. She touched countless lives with her kindness and dedication.
In 1967, Jean married Richard A. Goodall, and together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Julie. She was also a loving companion to her many dogs and grand-dogs over the years. Her love and devotion to her family was a guiding force throughout her life.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents, Edith and Lawrence Kempel; her sister, Ann E. Nolan; and her nephew, Christopher Nolan. She is survived by her daughters; son-in-law Jeff, nieces, Amy and Brigid; nephews, Larry (Susan), Edward (Anne), and Jim (Nohemy); and great-nieces and nephews, Emily, Quinn, Mariel, Leah, Rachel, Christian, and Annabelle. She also leaves behind other cherished family members, along with many dear friends-especially those from her forty years on Bridlewood Drive-all who will miss her greatly.
Jean was truly the life of the party - always ready to share a good laugh, dance to her favorite songs, or simply make someone smile. She was an incredibly gifted cook, baker, and gardener, and she shared those talents generously. Her kitchen and garden were places of joy, where traditions were honored and memories made.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5th from 3-6PM at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd, Copley, OH 44321.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Jean's memory to your favorite animal rescue organization or to the Alzheimer's Association.
