Janet Baird, of Lodi, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7th, at the age of 88. She transitioned into her new life surrounded by her daughter, grandsons, and the love and comfort at Hospice of Medina County. The number 88 symbolizes new beginnings, echoing the sentiment of Psalm 46: "God has a constantly flowing river whose sparkling streams bring joy and delight to his people."
Born to Raymond Garman and Myrtle (Yonker) Garman in Burbank, Ohio, Janet led a life filled with passion and joy. She was an enthusiastic cheerleader, a dedicated horse rider, and a devoted gardener. Janet enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Customer Experience Counter Manager at Cleveland Hopkins Airport. Described by a high school friend as beautiful, popular, outgoing, and incredibly kind, Janet's warmth touched many.
In 1965, Janet married Jack D. Baird from Chippewa Lake, Ohio. Together, they created a life rich with cherished moments. Her grandsons fondly remember her immense love, her signature sassy spirit, and her delicious chili and pancakes. They also recall the joy of playing wiffle ball in the yard, including one memorable game where a pitched ball accidentally hit her grandson in the head, breaking the plastic ball-a testament to her spirited nature and the fun they shared.
Her daughter Pamela fondly remembers a surprise spa day. Although Janet was initially hesitant to be seen without makeup, she ultimately embraced the experience, enjoying a massage, body treatment, facial, and even a dinner out just as she was. Janet's well-maintained hair and signature red lipstick were a testament to her self-care and elegance.
Even in her final days, Janet's compassion and gratitude shone through as she expressed appreciation for the care she received and the support from her daughter in managing her healthcare and other needs.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Pamela Baird of Coastal Carolina and Ohio, and her grandsons Blair Atwood of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Tyler Atwood of Colorado State.
In honor of her life and legacy, her daughter and grandsons will hold a private service and celebration of life.
