James Parker

August 8, 1940 — April 11, 2024

James Parker, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on April 11th, 2024 at his home in Copley, Ohio. He was a man of many talents and accomplishments throughout his life.

Born on August 8, 1940, in Barberton, Ohio, James graduated from Copley High School in 1958. After graduating, Jim enlisted in the Army Reserves along with 14 of his classmates. He dedicated 8 years to serving his country.

James was hard working with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. His career in the meat industry began by working alongside his father and eventually led him to establish his own successful meat business in 1967.  In 1969, he integrated produce into the meat market. By the early 70’s, he shifted from the retail market to wholesale distribution while working with local grocery chains.   After early retirement, his sons continue growing the family business until present day.

He was a man’s man and loved the outdoors- hunting, fishing, water, mountains, guns, trucks, tractors and all yellow equipment. But he had a sweet smile and twinkle in his eye that melted the girl’s hearts- especially Norma’s.  He was opinionated on all subjects- just ask (or not) he’ll give you an answer. He told the best stories. You always felt safe with him no matter where you were or what you were doing. He has a very gentle side and loved Jesus, babies and family. His home was his kingdom and he loved it more than anything on Earth.

One of James’ proudest accomplishments was raising four sons who went on to have families of their own. He is preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Robert Parker, grandson Joshua James Parker and son Russell Allen Parker. His legacy lives on through his wife of 63 years, Norma (Walters) Parker; sons Scott R Parker (wife Angela  Parker), Michael J Parker, and Timothy M Parker. His legacy lives on through his 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren that he loved dearly.

The void he leaves can never be filled.

We will miss him ‘till we meet again in Heaven.
