Jacqueline Harmon

April 1, 1947 — November 11, 2013

Jacqueline Kay (nee Harmon) Abney aged 66 finally lost her battle to pancreatic cancer on November 11 2013. She passed away peacefully at home with adoring family at her side. Jackie was born to the late Marvin & Mary (nee Rairick) Harmon April 1 1947; and a graduate of Copley High School Class of 1965. In April of '66 Jackie hired into the Ohio Bell Telephone Co (now ATT) where she worked as an 'Information Operator' and retired in November 2003. Her having been full of life and energy then picked-up part-time work for the next 7 years at U of A's Food Service which gave her leisure summers to bathe in the sun-her lifelong most favorite thing to do. Jackie was a beautiful lady inside and out who loved life; she enjoyed camping at Loyal Oak Lake Park and beach vacations-especially those with palm trees in FL; playing Texas Hold'em; trips to Las Vegas and area casinos; and weekend garage sale-ing. Upon her death Jackie requested a special song by Aaron Neville be played at her funeral called 'I Bid You Goodnight.' This song was Jackie's way of saying 'Farewell' to all her wonderful family and dear friends whom will miss her greatly. Her positive attitude bright smile and contagious laughter will live in our hearts forever. Jackie is survived by her loving husband James Abney of Norton; daughter Michelle Brandt of Barberton; step-daughters: Tammy Abney (fiancé Dominic Rizzo); and Carie (Adam) Dorsey of Copley; two siblings: Theodore Harmon of Akron; and Theresa Brewer (Chuck Maupin) of Copley. She & Jim shared five beautiful grandchildren: Nicholas and Cassidy Patterson; Madison Borelle and her younger siblings: Landon and Whitney Dorsey. She leaves behind but not forgotten maternal aunts numerous first and second generation cousins nieces and nephews as well as many other loving and caring extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 14 2013 from 5-8 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. Copley. Funeral services will take place Friday November 15 2013 at 11 AM at the Hummel Funeral Home. Donations may be made to either the Family for outstanding medical expenses; or Stewart's Caring Place in Fairlawn.
