Irene DeRuyter

Irene E. DeRuyter passed away after a long courageous bout with cancer at Stow Glen Retirement Village on Monday October 2 2006. ''Ina'' as she was affectionately known worked for many years as a waitress at the Five Star Cafe Merletti's and the M. O'Neil Company in Akron. She is survived by her brother Joe of Connellsville PA and sisters Gertrude (Bob) Pinsky and Joanne Oswald of Scotsdale Pennsylvania step-daughter Brenda (Fred) Brandt of Calilfornia grandchildren Elizabeth Fred and Bill Brandt of California and Kelly Hay of Virginia great-grandchildren Cassidy and Max of Virginia special caregivers niece Pat (George) Shultz and nephew John 'Jack' (Sharon) Pogwizd of Akron and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years Raymond 'Tom' DeRuyter and daughter Barbara Jane DeRuyter sisters Helen Pogwizd Maryanne Dinie and Claire Gallagher and brothers Tommy Bill Bob Ed and Daniel. Much gratitude goes to the caring staff of Stow Glen Retirement Village and Asceracare Hospice for making her final days peaceful. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday October 5 2006 at 10:00 AM at St. Bernard's Catholic Church 44 University Ave. where there will be an hour of calling prior to Mass. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
