Harold Schumacher

VIEW MEMORIAL PHOTO TRIBUTE Harold E. Schumacher entered eternal life on August 5 2007. Born in Akron Ohio to Harry F. and Sylvia (Hardman) Schumacher who preceded him in death as did his brother Robert H. (Smoky). Hal served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the European and Pacific Theaters before attending the University of Akron and earned his masters degree from Kent State University. He was a long-time teacher and coach in the Akron Public Schools a sports official in basketball and baseball and a member of the Greater Akron Baseball Hall of Fame. He served as president of Akron Basketball Officials G.A.B.O.A. and E.O.B.O.A. and was awarded the Master Officials Award and Lifetime Membership in G.A.B.O.A. Hal was a loving husband father and grandfather a man of truth and dedication who influenced many young people and in his quiet honorable way saw the best in everyone. He leaves to mourn and remember his wife of 42 years Alberta Petrarca; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jennifer and their children Hannah Matthew and Michael; daughter and son-in-law Angela and John Grucella. Funeral Service Wednesday August 8 2007 at 10:30 AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave. Procession will form at church. Interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron Tuesday August 7 2007 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers please consider memorials in Hal's name to The Christ Child Society P.O.
