Harold Adams

Harold Elwood Adams beloved husband father grandfather great-grandfather and friend died July 2 in his home in Cuyahoga Falls. He was 92. Known affectionately as 'Ace ' Harold was born on December 10 1916 in Altoona PA to Earl and Audrey Adams growing up in Carlisle where he graduated from Carlisle High School in 1934 a star student and running back. He attended Dickinson College until 1938 graduating Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Science before earning his Master of Science in Chemistry from Lafayette College in 1939. In 1942 Harold achieved his Doctorate of Philosophy in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1940 Harold married Caroline Baker Goodyear (CHS '34) and upon completing his education moved to Cuyahoga Falls Ohio where they raised five children-Pendery (Joel Clark) Charles (Theda) Lucinda (David Derwort) Harold (Dona) and Scott (Deborah)-while Harold worked as a research chemist for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Upon his retirement in 1979 he and Carrie traveled extensively visiting dozens of countries in all seven continents while maintaining close and loving relationships with five children eleven grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Additionally Harold is survived by two sisters Louise Michler of Easton PA and Miriam Steinmetz of Carlisle and a devoted extended family. His enduring love of family inquiring mind strong personal integrity and quick sense of humor touched many lives. This humble and caring man will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held at Ciriello and Carr Funeral Home at 810 Portage Trail Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday July 11 at 2:00 PM.
