Gerald Petit

View Photo Tribute HereGerald F. Petit Sr. passed away October 15 2008. Jerry was born in Doylestown in 1936 to the late George and Mary Evelyn (Seifert). He was also preceded in death by Mary Jane Petit and sisters Rita Pierce and Mary Williams. Jerry was enlisted in the US Army from 1955 - 1957. He initially began working for George I. Petit Inc. (family poultry business) but in 1968 decided to change fields and began selling industrial textiles steel and aluminum until his death. Jerry was very involved with his church attending mass daily. He loved his grandchildren dearly and regularly gave each one a 'Papa Dollar' requiring a hug in return! Woodworking was his passion - he fell in love with every piece of wood he saw. One of his greatest pleasures was visiting family and friends and seeing his woodworking gifts displayed. Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years Regina (Kovalcik); 5 children and 21 grandchildren; Jeanne (Larry) Bigelow Josiah Jonathan Judah Joel Jason and Jesse; Jacqueline (Dale) Kinsley Stephen Eric Hannah Daniel Joseph and Mary Margaret; Gerald Jr. (Allison) Petit Sholar Madison and Olivia; Jane (Chris) Rhodes Kelly Rebecca and Joseph; and Mark (Danielle) Petit Lauren Maria and Isabel. He is survived by brothers Jim John Chuck Peter and Tony and sisters Agnes and Celina. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday October 18 2008 at 10:30 AM at St. Sebastian Church 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Private family interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Monday October 20 2008. Friends may call Friday October 17 2008 at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd.
