George Leon Wilmot

George L. Wilmot, age 88 of Fairlawn, Ohio passed away February 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

He was a long-time member of the Akron Baptist Temple and most recently a member of Crusade Baptist in Copley.

George had many passions, which included golf, mall-walking, singing and leading people to Christ. He retired from Cargill Salt after 35 years of dedicated service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dorothy Wilmot; his sister, Janet, and brother-in-law, Willie Goff; his daughter-in-law, Marilyn Wilmot; and his friends and brothers-in-law, Dr. Joseph "Doc" Wojcik and Robert "Bob" Dangel.

He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 37 years, Mary Lou; his sons, Paul and Kurt (Sherry); his daughter, Juli (Vernon); and his grandchildren, Jason, Ashlee, and J.T. He also maintained cherished relationships with his sister-in-law, Joan Wojcik; his brother-in-law, Bill Dangel (Nancy); his goddaughter, Maria Wojcik; and numerous nieces and nephews.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians
