Francis George Hollish

Francis "Frank" Hollish joyfully reunited with his beloved wife Connie in Heaven on April 25, 2026.

Born on April 6, 1936 to Ignatius "Hank" and Frances (Orpse) Hollish, Frank was an Akron Original who was deeply committed to his city, Catholic faith, and family.

A 1954 graduate of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, Frank completed the electrician apprenticeship program at Goodyear. While working full-time, he earned his mathematics degree from Akron University and took graduate math courses.

Frank spent more than 40 years at Goodyear, but his curiosity extended far beyond his work. A lifelong learner, he explored interests that included harmonica, classical music, genealogy, and gourmet and ethnic cooking. He met his future wife, Constance (Gauder) Hollish, in a Lithuanian language class; they shared more than 40 years of marriage filled with folk dancing, the Akron Symphony, dining out, and travel.

While Frank traveled widely and adventurously - including to Russia during the Cold War! - he always resided in Akron. From the moment he was born, Frank was a devoted member of the Annunciation/Visitation of Mary Parish, where he sang in the choir, counted offerings, and gave in many ways.

Frank was always a very generous person, and he had a terrific sense of humor. He lived as he died: independent, stubborn, strong, and kind. His family is grateful to the many who cared for him, especially Wellspring Hospice, Unique Home Care Solutions, and his neighbors and friends.

Frank is survived by his brother, Joseph (Joe); his nieces Christine, Karen, Dana, and Cory, and his grand nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, and his brother, Peter "Butch" Hollish.

Services will be held Saturday, May 16, at Visitation of Mary Parish, 55 Broad St., Akron, with calling hour at 10 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. Following the Mass, Frank will be taken to Holy Cross Cemetery to be laid to rest next to his wife. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the parish in Frank's honor.
