Obituary

Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts that can never be erased. Evelyn was one of those people. Her life was filled with love, laughter, adventure, compassion and a beautiful spirit that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Born on June 23, 1961, in Orlando, Florida, Evelyn lived her life with an adventurous heart and a love for making memories. She passed away on October 28, 2026, leaving behind a family and countless friends who will forever miss her warmth, her laughter, and the love she so freely gave.

Evelyn was a woman with a heart of gold. She was loving, generous, caring, and always there for the people she loved. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, important, and loved. Whether she was spending time with family, sharing a laugh with friends, traveling somewhere new, or enjoying a concert, Evelyn knew how to embrace life. She didn't just go through life, she lived it to the fullest: collecting experiences, adventures, and memories along the way.

For more than 30 years, Evelyn dedicated herself to caring for others as a Registered Nurse at Medina Hospital, where she eventually retired. Her compassion for others was not simply part of her profession, it was part of her soul. She spent decades giving comfort, kindness, and care to others, making a difference in more lives than she probably ever realized.

Her greatest love, however, was her family. She was a devoted daughter, loving sister, treasured aunt, wonderful stepmother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend. To her nieces and nephews, she was affectionately know as "Aunt Lala", a name filled with love, memories, and a special bond that can never be replaced.

She shared a beautiful love and life with her fiancé and soul mate, Larry Hamilton. Their love was a special part of her story, and the memories they made together will be treasured forever. She was a loving partner who gave her whole heart and found joy in sharing life's adventures with the person she loved.

Evelyn leaves behind her beloved fiancé, Larry Hamilton; her sister, Cathy (Todd) Kellar; her father, Darius Hill (Nancy); her niece, Amanda (Dallas) Kellar; her nephew, Jared (Patience) Kellar; her great-niece, Serenity Legg; her great-nephews, Austin, Max, and Mason Legg, and Jayce and Zane Kellar; her stepchildren, Phillip (Ashley) Hamilton and Katie Hamilton; her grandchildren, Lily, Paul Reilly, Ava, Charlie, and Jack Hamilton; her beloved pets, Abby and Tucker; and many dear friends who were blessed to be part of her life.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Clotifay (Don) Petush and her brother, Darius Hill II.

Although our hearts are broken by her absence, we find comfort in knowing that Evelyn's love will never leave us. We will remember her when we hear a favorite song, see a beautiful place, share a family gathering, laugh over an old memory, or find ourselves wishing we could call her one more time.

We will miss her hugs, her laughter, her adventurous spirit, her caring heart, and all the little things that made her so wonderfully Evelyn.

The world was a little brighter with Evelyn in it. She leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in years or accomplishments, but in the love she gave, the people she touched, and the memories that will be carried forward for generations.

Fly high, Aunt Lala. Keep the music playing and the adventures going. You were loved more than words can ever express, and you will be missed more than you will ever know. Until we meet again, you will forever live in our hearts.

Calling hours will be 4-6pm Wednesday, November 18, followed by a memorial service at 6:00pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 2800 W. Market St. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
