Elizabeth Scanlon

VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE Elizabeth (Bettye) Scanlon died December 18 2004 at the Merriman Nursing Home after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Bettye was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles (Chick) Scanlon daughter-in-law Maureen Scanlon grandson Richard E. Coustillac and loving companion George Souers. Bettye was born in Ft. Smith Arkansas and moved to Akron as a young child. She married Chick Scanlon in 1934 and they shared almost 51 years together. She was active in the community including the St. Thomas Hospital Women's Board and was a charter member of St. Sebastian Church. She is survived by her children Patricia (Thomas) McCarthy of Louisville KY Timothy (Mary) Scanlon of Naples FL Michael (Patricia) Scanlon Akron OH Terence (Phyllis) Scanlon of Akron and Lawrence Scanlon of Akron; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Bettye devoted her life to her family. Her husband her children and in the last years of her life her companion and friend were the sources of her happiness. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday December 22 2004 at 10:00 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 E.
