VIEW MEMORIAL PHOTO TRIBUTE Elizabeth Ann Hardt (nee Stadtmiller) 87 born May 24 1920 went home to be with the Lord on Monday September 03 2007. A devout Catholic Elizabeth practiced her faith through loving words and thoughtful actions. She was always cheerful friendly and never had an unkind word to say. Lovely marvelous wonderful were her favorite words. A member of Saint Sebastian Parish for over 50 years Elizabeth was active in her prayer group served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered in numerous other activities. Catholic education was a priority and Elizabeth and her husband Zbigniew (Ben) Hardt made great sacrifices to send their seven children to private Catholic schools. A lifelong resident of Akron Elizabeth graduated from East High School Saint Thomas Hospital School of Nursing and in 1950 Saint Louis University with a B.S. degree in Public Health Nursing. Elizabeth served her country in World War II in the U.S. Navy as a nurse in Guam followed by a tour of duty in San Diego CA during the Korean War. She married Zbigniew Hardt on February 6 1954. Later after devoting time to raising a family Elizabeth returned to her profession as a public health nurse with the City of Akron and retired in 1995 (at the age of 75) after 25 year of service. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents Ferdinand and Anna Stadtmiller her only brother Albert sister Bernadine and Ben her husband of 44 years. Elizabeth is survived by her children... Christopher Hardt Akron; Mary Alice Brosseau (Jim) of Tulsa OK; Ann Williams (Chester) of Lexington MA; Patricia Donaldson (Robert) of Congers NY; Margaret Frondorf (Mark) of Arlington VA; Karen Hardt of Akron; and Mark Hardt (Virginia) of Long Beach CA. Elizabeth was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ruth Heiber Rosemary Marco Irene Krupp Annamae Bianco and Jean Gill. Elizabeth was strongly independent and throughout her life proved that age should not be an obstacle to the pursuit of one's interests and passions. Elizabeth loved to entertain at home and tend to her rose gardens. She was a bridge enthusiast world traveler and gourmet cook. Her homemade fruitcake and Stollen were a labor of love. Summers in Cape Cod Mass. a family tradition Elizabeth and Ben started over 25 years ago will always be cherished memories. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am on September 7 2007 at Saint Sebastian Church 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Friends are invited to pay respects at Hummel Funeral Home 3475 Copley Rd. COPLEY from 5 to 8 PM on Thursday September 6 2007. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Elizabeth's name may be made to Saint Sebastian Grade School Our Lady of the Elms or Walsh Jesuit High School.
