Elbert Gruber

Elbert E. Gruber 95 of Akron passed away peacefully April 23 2006 at Rockynol. Elbert was born on September 11 1910 in Cincinnati OH. He graduated from Xavier University in 1932 with a Bachelors degree and received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Illinois. He retired from General Tire and Rubber Co. in 1975 where he had been Vice President of Research and Development. He was a member of the American Chemical Society. Elbert was a founding board member of Akron Visiting Nurse Service. He was a charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Cuyahoga Falls. He was a parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Sebastian's. Elbert was preceded in death by his wife Mary in 1995. He is survived by his children Thomas (Kathleen) Gruber of Cohasset MA David (Joann) Gruber of Sudbury MA Christine (Lewis) Bixon of Longwood FL Carolyn (Larry) Singer of Columbus OH; grandchildren Leo (Monica) Gruber of Hudson OH Elizabeth (Patrick) Brown of Irvine CA Xaque Gruber of Los Angeles CA Robert Gruber of Los Angeles CA Catherine (Scott) King of Jacksonville FL Michael Bixon of Longwood FL Shane Singer of Columbus OH; great grandchildren Andrew King and Alexander King. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 28 2006 10:00 AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church 476 Mull Ave. Interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
