VIEW PHOTO MEMORIAL TRIBUTE VIEW PHOTO MEMORIAL TRIBUTE-90th Birthday Party Dr. Edward Hellwig went home to be with his Heavenly Father after 93 wonderful years. Born in Cleveland November 21 1913 he lived most of his adult life in Akron and Winter Park Florida. He was a graduate of Holy Cross College and Saint Louis University Medical School. During World War II Ed served as a flight surgeon in the Army Air Corps with the rank of Lt. Col. When he returned from Service he completed his residency at Akron City Hospital and began a career-long practice in OB-GYN experiencing much joy with each new life brought into this world. Ed was a member of St. Sebastian Church in Akron and St. Margaret Mary Church in Winter Park. He was a lifetime member of many professional affiliations Summit County Medical Society NEOUCOM St. Thomas Hospital (Chief of Staff) and many Catholic organizations Serra Club (Charter member) K of C (4th degree) CYO Loyola of the Lakes (founding member). He was preceded in death in 1981 by his beloved wife Irene (Labbe). His warm smile and spirit will be deeply missed by his loving children Barbara (Gene) Frank of Weaverville NC; Eddie Jr. of Lake in the Hills IL; Ray (Jenny) of Brimfield; Marty of Winter Park FL; Louise of the home; and Lyn (AJ) Willequer of Eustis FL. He leaves granddaughters Katrina Hellwig (fiancé Nick Rincker) and Abigail Hellwig grandsons Chris and Joe Willequer 2 great grandchildren cousins and many loving nieces and nephews. The family is indebted to VNS Hospice Veterans Administration Almost Family and the many caring friends who gave such loving assistance. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday July 12 2007 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Church 476 Mull Ave. FUNERAL PROCESSION WILL FORM AT CHURCH. Entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home 500 East Exchange St. on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers he requested that donations be made to St. Sebastian Parish Foundation Loyola of the Lakes Jesuit Retreat House Holy Cross College or the charity of your choice.
