Daniel Sedlak

January 20, 1935 — February 5, 2015

Daniel Andrew Sedlak, a gentle soul, peacefully passed away February 5th, 2015. He is preceded in death by his father George and mother Anna, and his son, Daniel Anthony. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna May, daughters Catherine Lorraine (Kevin) Kilroy, Laura Anne (Tom) Nieman, and son, David Anthony (Roxanne) Sedlak. Daniel leaves behind seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Grandchildren are daughter and son of Daniel, Alex (Justin) Miller and Nathan (Heather) Sedlak; daughter of Catherine, Emily Sedlak; daughter and son of Laura, Leah and Kane Sarver; daughter and son of David, Tatiana and Jonathan Sedlak. Great grandchildren are Danilynn and Cole Alexander, daughter and son of Alex (Justin) Miller. Born and raised in Cleveland; graduated Valedictorian from East Technical High School. Prior to attending Cleveland State University, graduating with an Electrical Engineering Degree, he spent three years in the Army, G2 Division in Germany. He was Vice President of the Bolt/Nut Division at Lamson and Sessions and, later, General Manager at Auto Bolt and Nut from which he retired. His second career, purchased the Ghent Framer, a custom frame shop, in Bath, Ohio. He sold the shop after ten years and finally retired, then enjoyed traveling with his wife and loved to fish as a member of the Rockwell Springs Trout Club. Daniel was a loving and supporting husband, father, and friend. He had a unique sense of humor which he shared with all. Family would like to thank the caring doctors and nurses at Akron City Hospital ICU (third floor) for taking great care of him during his final days. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1686 Cleveland-Massillon Rd., Copley. Friends will be received on Monday from 3-7 p.m. at Hummel Funeral Homes, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 3505 Embassy Parkway, Suite 100, Akron, OH 44333 and the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016. Private interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
