Cecilia Dugan

September 11, 1932 — April 23, 2024

Cecilia Agnes (Moran) Dugan passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 23rd, 2024 at age 91. Born in Akron to the late Katherine (McLaughlin) and Patrick Moran, Cecilia was a lifelong resident of Akron. She graduated from St. Vincent High School and attended The University of Akron. A longtime member of St. Vincent Parish, she participated in the Altar Society and was a PSR instructor for several years. She also enjoyed her participation with the Christ Child Society.

After raising seven children and years of in-home babysitting, Cecilia refreshed her office skills and went to work for Akron Children's Hospital. Cecilia retired from Akron Children's Hospital with 18 years of service in the Human Resources Department. Returning to care giving once again, she cared for several grandchildren until school age. Not idle for long, she then joined Macy's at Summit Mall for another 16 years.

Cecilia was ever grateful for her Catholic faith and Irish heritage. She enjoyed reading, walking, golf leagues with coworkers and playing cards for hours with high school friends at Papa Joes. Above all, her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. There is nothing Cecilia would not do for them. Her children remember her fondly as a most loving Mother, continually displaying unfailing love to each of them. Her love and caring ways were most evident in her actions whether cooking favorites, babysitting little ones, sewing clothes to fit just right or sharing her wit and wisdom.

She is preceeded in death by her parents Patrick and Katherine Moran, brother Patrick J. Moran, sister Mary Humphries, sister in-law Ethel Moran and very dear friend Evelyn Dannemiller.

She is survived by her seven children: Dorothy (Paul) Albanese, Barbara (James) Lawrence, Maryellen (Chris) Burnham, John Dugan, Jerry (Shawn) Dugan, Nancy (Perry) Dustin and Christopher Dugan. Grandmother to thirteen grandchildren : Jesse (Keely), Kaiti (Jaron),Amanda (John), Samantha, Shane (Phil), Shannon, Kyle, Ryan, Hailey, Baleigh, Malarie, Ryleigh, Macnamare, great granddaughters Evelyn, Lily, Ellington and many nieces, nephews and friends.

The family extends a special thanks to the warm and compassionate staff and nurses of The Village of St. Edwards-Fairlawn, especially the hospice care team. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Parish renewal fund (164 W. Market Street, Akron, 44303).
