Carolyn McElliott

Carolyn J. (Hazen) McElliott (nee Hayes) passed away March 10, 2024. She was 82. Carolyn graduated from Akron Garfield High School and raised her family in Copley. She was an amazing gardener and baker, whose pumpkin pie and blackberry jam were legendary. Carolyn was a truly gifted seamstress and knitter, and she produced hand knit sweaters for independent knitwear designers, not to mention heirloom blankets and sweaters for those she loved. But above all, her absolute joy in life was Family. She cherished her roles of Mother, Daughter, Sister, and most of all, Grandma. She gave of herself so gently and selflessly. How lucky we were to have someone so special who makes saying goodbye so hard. Sweet dreams, Mom, we love you so.

Carolyn was preceded in death by parents Tom Hayes and her beloved mother Annabelle Hayes (Jockisch), and her husband Jack McElliott. She is survived by her four children: Patrick (Becky) Hazen, Maire (Barry) Field, Jennifer Collins, and Charles Hazen; four grandchildren: Carys, Michael, Jane, and Elinor; sisters JoAnn (Jerry) Magner and Mary (John) Duff; brothers: John (Armilda) Hayes and Phil (Cathy) Hayes; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Thurs. March 14 2024 at 1:00pm at The Hummel Funeral Home located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321. Friends may call two hours prior to service.
