Carl Milton Watson, 89, passed into a state of peace with loved ones at his side in Sandusky, Ohio on August 7th. A proud native of Copley, Ohio, he was born May 19.1936 to parents, Carl H. and Margaret Watson.
As a 1954 graduate of Copley High School, he spent his entire career at Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
Carl loved entertaining friends and family at home. It was an unfulfilled dream of owning & operating his own restaurant, he was always manning the BBQ grill or steam pots at annual clambakes. Whether it be playing euchre, bridge, the afore-mentioned clambakes or watching New Year's Day college bowl games, the Watson home was a center for gatherings. Community sports also were Carl's passion. He spent hours volunteering, first with Copley Athletic Association, as a coach, excavating, maintaining the ballfields and holding several officer positions. As his children entered high school, he took his energies to Copley High School, again spending hours with the Copley Sports Boosters club, as president and other positions, volunteering to run the concession stand to raise money for the school sports programs. He also engaged in running time clocks for nearly all sports in all seasons from the '70s into the 2000s. In recognition for his tireless work, Carl was proud to be inducted into the Copley High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl H. and Margaret, siblings Robert, D'Arle and Carole and beloved wife, Dolores. He is survived by wife, Marilyn, daughter Barbara (Ric)Beck, son David (Elizabeth Rader) Watson, and son Bruce Watson; grandchildren Evan, Chelsea, Karl, Gregory, Libby and 5 great grandchildren.
A family graveside service will be held.
