Camilla passed on September 10, 2025. Cam Horvath was born Helene Camilla Kasten, in Mannheim Germany October 21, 1937. Her family, Heinz Kasten, father, Lisalotta Hida Durlacher, and her brother Sigbert Kasten, along with Cam arrived in the United States in 1938; from fleeing Hitler's Nazi regime; living in Ashland until permanently locating in Cleveland Heights, where she graduated high school.
Cam met her spouse, James Horvath at The Ohio University. She is preceded in death by her US born sister, Toby (Helen) Kasten (James) Opalinski, of Nevada, Cam is survived by James Horvath (Youngstown), her beloved devoted and dedicated husband of 67 years. She is also survived by her two children, Susan (Dennis Howard) and Heidi Horvath, and her five grandchildren.
Camilla was a Children's Librarian in Ohio Public Libraries. She proudly played Mah Jongg in the Fairlawn Jewish community. Cam was a lifelong patron of the Cleveland Playhouse Square Foundation.
Calling hours will be held at Hummel Funeral Homes located at 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, OH 44304 on Friday September 19, 2025 from 5pm-7pm. Camilla will be interned at the Calgary Cemetery, Youngstown Ohio.
