Bobbijean Helus, age 70, of Akron, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 surrounded by family peacefully at home.
Bobbijean was born on September 14, 1955 to Robert (Beep) and Jeannine Morris. She graduated from Revere High School and went on to work as a server, swimming instructor, and camp counselor (known endearingly as Shamu on the beach crew). On June 11, 1988 she married James Helus and together they built a life filled with family, travel, adventure, and laughter.
She was known for her kindness, humor, generosity, and luck. She enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, visiting her daughter, spending time with her Camp Christopher family, and enjoying nature. More than anything, Bobbijean loved taking care of others, especially her family.
She is survived by her husband, James; daughter Katie Helus; sisters Mary Klatt and Susie DeShon; and many nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jeannine Morris; siblings Keith, Christopher, Jeff, and Diana Morris; and several nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00pm Friday, May 29, at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, where friends may visit immediately following the service until 6:00pm.
The family wishes to thank the hospice caregivers who provided such compassionate care. In honor of Bobbijean, memorial donations may be made to Grace House Akron.
Bobbijean will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
