Barbara Wellemeyer

July 16, 1930 — October 30, 2025

Barbara Ann Wellemeyer (nee Clark) of Copley, Ohio, died October 30, 2025, at the age of 95. She graduated from high school in Westfield, NJ, then received a BA in mathematics from Mount Holyoke College and later a BS in education from Kent State University and a Masters in secondary education from The University of Akron. A lifelong educator, Barbara shared her love of learning through years of teaching math in private and public schools and at The University of Akron. After retiring, she continued to give selflessly, serving on the Summit County Children Services Women's Board, knitting hats and mittens for children in need, and sewing doll clothes for dolls assembled and sent to impoverished countries. Her generous heart and joyful presence also enriched the community at Concordia on Sumner, where she lived and volunteered. When she wasn't baking her delicious cookies or serving her scrumptious family meals, she enjoyed playing her piano and her organ and gardening. She also enjoyed interviewing and writing biographical sketches for all new independent-living residents at Concordia.

Barbara was a devoted and beloved wife to husband Donald, who died in 2005, mother to Doug (Kay) of Durham, NC; Deb Huff (Mike) of New Albany, Ohio; and Bill (Peggy) of Akron, grandmother of eight, and great grandmother of seven. Her compassion, kindness, and quiet strength will be forever remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

The family offers many thanks and blessings to the staff at Concordia for their tireless love and service provided for Mom for the last several years.

A private service will take place following her inurnment with Dad at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace...
