Aurora Carmen de Cardenas

Aurora Carmen de Cardenas, age 99, passed away on June 1, 2026. Born in rural Cuba, she went to La Habana, where she studied nursing. There she met and married her husband, Juan, and had five children, Nicolás, Jorge, Aurora, Silvia and Elsa. After the revolution of '59 she sent her three oldest children to live in Akron. Two years later, in '64, she left Cuba with her husband, mother-in-law and the two youngest children. They stayed in Madrid for six months until they received permission to travel to the US. She then raised her family in Akron.

Predeceased by her husband, Juan de Cárdenas, she leaves behind her five children, twelve grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
