Anne Louise Hergenrother died July 25, 2026. She was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in South Bend IN. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend and Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati with a B. S. in Nursing. She married Bill Hergenrother in 1964 and they moved to
Akron OH.

Anne was a community volunteer. She started by helping at her sons' schools-St. Sebastian Parish Grade School and Walsh Jesuit High School. Later, she volunteered at the St. Sebastian Parish Office and Rockynol Retirement Community, where she and other St. Sebastian parishioners conducted a weekly Communion Service for Rockynol's Catholic residents. She also volunteered at Akron General Medical Center in the Surgery Welcome Center for many years.

She and Bill enjoyed attending movies, concerts and plays, especially at Weathervane Community Playhouse and Porthouse Theatre. They completed the Summit County Fall Hiking Spree for over forty consecutive years, with Bill dutifully attaching the yearly shields to their hiking staffs.

Anne was a past president and member of Christ Child Society of Akron for over fifty years.

She and Bill were avid Notre Dame fans, and attended at least one home football game a year for at least fifty years.

She enjoyed socializing by playing bridge and going to lunch with friends.

She loved spending time with her family, especially the week at Wisconsin Dells, WI for many summers. She and Bill were able to attend many of their grandchildrens' "blessed events"-Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations and some graduations.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bill and their sons: Robert (Kim) of Huntingdon Valley PA; Michael (Kristene) of Kingwood TX; John (Dianne) of Cincinnati OH; Paul (Dianne) of Champaign IL and nine grandchildren: Emily, Ryan, Lia (Nolan Lissman), Sean, Anna (Patrick Bausch), Charlie, Dana, Molly, Katie (Brad Berning) and two great grandchildren: Lucy Anne Berning and Clara Kelly Berning. Also surviving are her siblings: Judy Donohue, Minneapolis, MN; Brendan (Dorothy) Egan, Sudbury, MA; Dennis (Jane) Egan, Watchung, NJ; Philip Egan, Ann Arbor, MI; and Hugh Egan, Ithaca, NY and Mary Jean (Dan) Osberger, Mishawaka, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Sherman Egan and her brother Patrick Egan.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 2 from 3-5PM at Hummel Funeral Home FAIRLAWN, 2800 W. Market St. Fairlawn, OH 44333. Mass of Christian Burial will be held On Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11AM at St Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44320. Burial immediately following at Rose Hill Burial Park.
