This Tuesday Akron lost one of its own. Andre 'AJ' Andreoli passed at Sumner on Ridgewood on October 23rd leaving behind a legacy of connections to his community. Andre was born in Akron Ohio on August 1 1919 and graduated from Buchtel High School class of 1937 where he was President of the Senior Class and the National Honor Society. He was a graduate of the University of Akron. After graduating from college he served four years in the US Navy as a First Lieutenant during World War II in the Pacific theater. Upon his return to Akron AJ began an extensive business career that included development of numerous commercial properties. He was CEO of several companies listed on The American Stock Exchange. His business career had its roots in Akron where he developed hotels across the country. He was one of Hilton's first franchisees. He was also a partner in several local restaurants including Beau's in Akron. An accomplished sportsman AJ distinguished himself by scoring the very first touchdown in Akron's Rubber Bowl. He also received national recognition for breeding and raising horses - world champion Morgans and American Saddlebreds at the prestigious Reata Farms in Sharon Center. Andre was also one of the original founders of the Sharon Golf Club. He admired the serenity and beauty of the course and enjoyed many days there with his friends. His fondness for those experiences kept him an avid golfer throughout his life. Though preceded in death by his wife Emita F. Andreoli; parents Irma and Joseph Andreoli; brother Arthur Andreoli and son Eric Friden; he will be laid to rest by a devoted family. He is survived by his son Rennick (Dee) Andreoli; daughter Linda (John) Nix; dear sister-in-law Joan Andreoli; four grandchildren eight great-grandchildren and nephew Marc Andreoli. The family would like to extend their warmest appreciation to all AJ's loyal friends who visited daily and for all of those who held him in their thoughts and prayers. He will be missed by all who knew him. A private family gravesite ceremony is planned. There will be no calling hours. A memorial luncheon will be held for friends of the family at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn on Saturday October 27 2007 at 12:00 PM.
