Agnes "Aggie" Stitz

Agnes "Aggie" (Meyers) Stitz, a beloved wife, mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023. Aggie was born on June 20, 1934, grew up in Akron, Ohio as the daughter of Anthony and Rosalia Meyers. She was the youngest of three children preceded in death by Jerry and Rosemarie (Edward) Steurer. She married her childhood sweetheart, Gerald "Jerry" Stitz in 1955. Jerry preceded her in death September 16, 2016. Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her warm smile, generous spirit, and unwavering support.

Aggie was a remarkable woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She raised five children, late John Stitz, Greg Stitz, Beth (Don) Tomoff, Terri (Scott) Herman and Peggy (Bruce) Schmucker. Later in life she enjoyed her seven grandchildren, Alex and Kristin Tomoff, Kyle, Karly (Jason) Heiss and Kevin Herman and Zach and Lyndsey Schmucker and two great grandchildren Jensen and Grant Heiss. Aggie's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy offering guidance and support in every endeavor they pursued.

In addition to her role as a loving mother, and wife, Aggie had a wide circle of friends who adored her. She enjoyed bringing people together by organizing trips to other countries and class reunions: creating lifelong memories for all involved.

Aggie was an active member of her religious community and devoted her time to various organizations. She mentored religious youth and planned liturgies for Catholic masses. She enjoyed hosting a Seder meal annually for 40 years.

Aggie found joy in playing tennis, crafting gifts for her children, reading books, and working sudoku and crossword puzzles. She was a recreational cyclist sharing countless bike rides with her husband, Jerry, exploring the many bike trails in Ohio. She was a skilled card player enjoying many games of bridge and euchre with her friends.

Aggie's home reflected her vibrant personality. She took delight in decorating every surface for every holiday, creating an atmosphere of joy and celebration for her loved ones. Dinners were a cherished tradition in her household, where she showcased her culinary talents bringing family members together around the table.

After she raised her children, Aggie worked for 20 years as an administrative professional at the University of Akron in the Civil Engineering Department. Her strong work ethic, accountability and attention to detail earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

Visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at The Village of St. Edwards, 3125 Smith Road, Fairlawn. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 27th in The Village of St. Edwards chapel. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Akron.
