Eileen Fisher

View Memorial Photo Tribute Eileen M. Fisher 82 of Akron passed away May 22nd 2008 after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife a loving mother and grandmother and a dear friend. She was born in Caldwell Ohio on July 8 1925. After high school she ventured out to work in Washington DC and then to study at The Ohio State University. She was employed at General Tire before she settled down in Akron to raise a lively family of eight with her husband. Later in life she found satisfaction and joy working at JoAnn Fabrics. She was actively involved on the Women's Board of St. Thomas Hospital for many years utilizing her love of sewing to help others. Eileen spent much of her time sewing and quilting which brought her many good friends and much happiness. She loved to golf and spent her summers on the links. Eileen was a devout Catholic who frequently attended daily Mass at St. Sebastian and St Hilary Parishes. Eileen was a fabulous and committed mother and grandmother to her 8 children 23 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was thrifty feisty and upbeat; she will be missed. She was preceded in death in 2001 by her husband of 51 years Jack. Eileen is survived by her daughters Mary Pinkney (Robert) of Denver Colorado Dianne Mellion (Dr. Joseph) of Bath Laura Pearce of Akron Tracey Gilbride (Michael) of Jackson Township her sons Jack Jr. (Susan) of Indianapolis Indiana James (Nicole) of Stow Robert (Cynthia) of Tallmadge Lawrence (Nawzat) of Akron. She was preceded in death by sister Ruth Sausaman and is survived by sisters Helen Iams Vera Fye and Connie (Thomas) Brankel. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday May 28 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Hilary Catholic Church 2750 W. Market St. Interment in Rose Hill Burial Park.
