Charles Calvin Smith, Jr., lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio passed away peacefully on May 8, 2022 at the age of 65. He was born on February 1, 1957 to the late Charles C. Smith, Sr. and Joanne (Greathouse) Smith.
Charles is survived by his beloved son, Aaron Charles Smith (Martina) and grandson, Grayson Smith; step-daughter Angela (Loren) Taylor; sister, Yvonne (James) Goins; brothers, Daniel S. Smith, Kevin L. (Roxana) Smith and Spencer A. Smith. Charles has one grandson, two granddaughters and 11 great grandchildren.
In 1975 Charles joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division. After coming back home, Chuck was self-employed as a metal fabricator with extensive experience servicing and repairing RV motor homes as well as being a jack of all trades. Chuck enjoyed playing the guitar and mandolin and had many creative talents.
Chuck has a very large community of close friends and family specially the Alborn family-Priscilla, Pam, Peggy and Clyde. Other special friends are Jeff Crawford, Richard Robinson and close family, Russ and Kat Lemmon and Tim Smith.
A Celebration of Chuck's life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 2-4 PM located at the Church on the Boulevard, 754 Kenmore Blvd, Akron, Ohio 44319. Reverend Ron Mohlmaster will officiate a memorial service at 3 PM, followed by a meal in the fellowship hall.
Cremation has been chosen and Chuck will be laid to rest at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
