James Mac Naughton

James Howard Mac Naughton passed away peacefully at Western Reserve Hospital on April 7, 2022, at the age of 73. He was born in Warren, Ohio on February 13, 1949, to the late John Mac Naughton and LaVelma Moyer.

Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald James.

He is survived by his daughters, Heather (Michael) Otto and Rachel (Andrew O'Kane) Mac Naughton; ex-spouse Cheryl Kalmanek Antognoli; brothers John (Shirley) Mac Naughton, Thomas (Shellane) James, and Richard James; sister Donna James; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

James grew up in Newton Falls attending Newton Falls High School and Kent State University where he studied accounting. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army for three years having served in the Vietnam War.

James worked at McDonald Women's University Hospital job where he served as the CEO for several years. He went on to open his own business, MCS Systems and Consulting Services, where he could pursue his passion of technology.

Jim, to his friends, was an avid Ohio sports fan, notably the Indians and Browns, enjoyed many active years playing softball and poker with his friends. He loved his many pets like family. The cats Samson, Rocky, Floyd, and City Kitty, and the dogs Mariah, Ginger, Bubba, Boozer, Brutus, and Beethoven.

Jim was very proud of his Scottish heritage. Many favorite memories stem from summer trips to Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina where he and his family would sit around a campfire, tell stories, play bagpipes and dance. He had a passion for traveling in general, taking trips out west with his family, where they would go camping, fishing, and hiking. Jim loved visiting as many U.S. National Parks as he could.

In lieu of calling hours, a Celebration of Life luncheon will be held on Thursday, April 14, from 1pm - 5pm at the Acker-Moore Memorial Post (VFW) in Stow, at 3733 Fishcreek Road. Per family request, masks are required inside unless eating. Flowers may be sent there. Additionally, funeral expense donations are greatly appreciated and can be made to Heather Otto.

A graveside service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville.
